I love all Interpol, but I can't help but get a boner when I think about if Carlos D was still in the band today

This album's strongest point is the rhythm section, holy fuck is the drumming here good and punchy

Any argument for this not being their second best is made by people who have deluded themselves somehow. Wish I could do the same.
I sort of understand it - if El Pintor was their second best, then that could mean maybe their best work is in the future. Always an exciting time when a band's last release is awesome.

I wish I could appreciate Interpol, as I enjoy Editors and they are very much trying to be them.
For some reason, Interpol's songs do nothing for me...

^ I was just sick in my mouth.
Editors are so middle of the road it's painful, these guys had something. Far superior band. And how come you've given this a 3.5? Odd rating considering your comment.

I think Editors showed a lot of potential in their singles from the first album (i.e. Munich and All Sparks) but they faded away into obscurity pretty fast.
And yeah this is def Interpol's second best after the debut. Both 5s for me.

Editors were my introduction to finding my own music, they've got some fantastic tracks and a ton of b-sides to pore through, and I'd defend their mostly unfavoured third album as being their best, but I've never understood them being in the postpunk Interpol conversation
