Also Thursday is definitely the weakest of his mixtapes. "The Birds, Pt. 1" is really good though.

This has every reason to exist.

Good review. Can't say I agree completely, but good nonetheless.

I think some tracks on the remaster sound better, while others sound much worse.

"Gone" for example sounds really good now, while "The Birds Pt. 2" sounds atrocious.

I'm not really feeling the Bonus tracks either besides Valerie, which is great.

They're still quality projects though & I would reccomend them to anyone new to The Weeknd.

That does of course raise the question as to why it wasn't released on vinyl though.

Releasing all your material for free doesn't exactly line your pockets with enough $ to press up x amount of vinyl

Also, for the people questioning why certain effects and samples aren't present here: he's released this comp for a profit, maybe he couldn't get them cleared in time/at all?

I'm pretty meh on the mastering. Seems to take away from the hazy sound as the vocals are super up-front now :/

Yeah, he loses a lot of the atmosphere that came from the beats by putting the vox too far up front. Goes to show how vital a proper production job can be.

This is just so polarizing. Some songs sound great with the new feel, and some are just awful to listen to. I want the physical copy, but I don't at the same time :/

I honestly don't dislike any of this with the new mastering. I mean, some if it may not be as good but unless I'm deliberately trying to compare them I wouldn't really think about it. If no one had told me it had been remastered I wouldn't have even noticed the difference. Also, it's worth owning a physical copy of this because 1) the album artwork and packaging is great, and 2) The Weeknd rocks and people should have a physical album by him in their collection.

The following was just posted on The Weeknd XO Facebook page. Dunno if it's retail but cross your fingers:

Cool to see it on wax, but it's still only the Trilogy version
