Basically everything people like about the electronic music duo from Canada is gone and has been replaced with sleep inducing basic beats and vocals drenched in so much reverb they make Loveless seem like it was recorded in a closet.

With all due respect for your opinion, I do not see how a 2.5 can be justified for this record. To me nearly every track is stand-out one, nothing has the feel of being bleak or boring. Instead of them stripping down their music, it's rather an adding up of new elements with each new record. This is most definitely an improvement over II. In short, I disagree with the point you're trying to make.
