Kevin's bisexual and genderqueer so him giving himself a queer persona is fine
The George part is uh something else though...

There is a huge problem in the community with white LGBT people trying to emulative black female divas to the point of being offensive and I can't help, but think this is another example of that

Oh yeah, definitely no problems with using the queer language, just think that naming choice adds some context that makes it hard to believe "Georgie" was a coincidence
Agree much

yeah i've met a lot of "transcendental" gay characters in my day that sort of espouse that genderqueer idea and then apply it to everything else. met a few that claimed race doesn't exist or sexes or age or distinction between humans and animals. the esoteric artsy bullshit sort of isn't difficult to come by in the community

have you never been to a gay club? that's like 50% of attendance
the other 50 being either straight women or straight dudes who realised that all straight women who wanna let loose go to gay clubs

Never knew about that "George" thing you're talking about. Not sure if that applies to "Georg-ie", but again, I completely agree that identifying as another race is inappropriate and like you said Ars, it's unfortunately very common for white people (lgbt or not) to use a black female diva persona. This was '07-'08 so maybe it was a bit ahead of the popular curve, but still doesn't justify it. I am glad he eventually apologized.

I don't think most of the gay and bi men I've met at clubs have been zoophiles or pedos...but maybe it's different in your country

The gay bars in NYC I used to frequent before covid weren't like that thank god
neither were the ones I visited in Budapest...
I guess I'll avoid Czechia's gay scene

The straight girl thing is true though, which is why you gotta go to the sleazier divier bars if you want to be surrounded by mostly other LGBT people... the straight girls still manage to go there too, but there's far less

yeah, the scene here ain't that big, so it's either a straight girl bar or weirdo-pedo kind of sleazy bar
occasionally they interconnect, occasionally you strike a girlless or sleazless night

Can't keep up with the clubs, prefer a Stephin Merritt type quiet gay bar
Probably has a coffee cocktail or something and the cute sad-bears with an adjunct professorship and an editorial column

Again, on the several occasions I've talked to him, he's really down to earth and will talk about awesome movies, music and books. No need to be mean to someone you've never met.
