I don't see how you think "i" is out of place in the whole context of the album. Honestly, this album was a huge disappointment up until "i", then Mortal Man completely changed my view on the whole album (note: I wasn't huge on "i" as a single). A lot of the album was hard to sit through but the last two songs wrapped up the album perfectly and made me want to relisten to the album again right away. Definitely see this as a grower, hopefully I see most of the album in a higher light next time around.

To Pimp A Butterfly is an album for egotistical pretentious backpackers to gather around and spew their garbage opinions about garbage meme rap. There's nothing new or innovate about this album. It's just you're typical pop rap album with jazz and funk influences.
That's the fucking problem with meme rap fans. They attempt to ruin good music by spitting their chewing tobacco on other people's shoes and slapping their dicks across each other's faces. "WOW THIS ALBUM IS SO BASED" "KENDRICK IS A GOAT!" That's all I fucking hear these days. This is the last straw.
Now I'm not one to say that I enjoy mainstream music, especially hip hop. It's contrived and mindless and should not be considered art by any means, but this shit's gotten fucking ridiculous.
While all of you retards fawn over the meme rap that has been constructed by the shitty internet and mainstream rappers, what your really doing is taking all the music that is held so hallowed and "primo" and perpetuating it into an endless cycle.
Pretentious hipster backpackers that know absolutely nothing about musical composition or what it means to be a musician will shit out their memes and opinions like usually; thereby upholding it as musical "genius" even though it's not.
Eventually, this album will become irrelevant and the fool you all once fawned over will crash and burn because people will finally wake up and realize that fact that this is complete garbage.
Essentially, fuck you meme rappers. You're a paradoxical, shit-eating tactics of bastardizing music will come to an end and you all will suffer.
