"like there's no fucking way Dirt and Pearl Jam's Ten could be considered in the same genre"
Sounds like we need an Even Flow/Angry Chair mashup :D

Dear god no. I can’t stand Pearl Jam, Eddie Vedder has the most obnoxious voice.

eddie vedder made me realize pretty much anybody on this earth is capable of being a successful singer.
but yeah pearl jam and aic sound absolutely nothing alike. grunge was just a vague umbrella term to describe darker alternative rock in the 90's

"eddie vedder made me realize pretty much anybody on this earth is capable of being a successful singer."
Lol the guy who did that was the singer from Three Doors Down. There's a series called "What makes this song stink" (a tongue in cheek homage/parody of Beato's series) and there's an episode on Kryptonite, and to prove how un-special the 3DD singer's voice is he got two random dudes on instagram who have never sung on stage to sing the big "YEAH!" note in the song. They were virtually indistinguishable from the actual singer's voice.

"you very rarely see any of the post-Staley albums even being labelled as grunge records... they usually have the sludge or doom tag"
Who's doing this labeling? I've never heard them described as sludge, and even the doom tag is used more as an adjective than a noun.

I mean I would def call AiC's self titled a sludge-y sounding album at least

@SitarHero i did not know that story about 3DD. I know they were some high school band from small town in Mississippi, so it doesn’t surprise me that they arent that talented. Basically three small town kids who made it big.

I actually like Kryptonite. It came out when I was in high school and was one of the first tunes I learned to play on guitar. I've even covered it with bands in the past. But yeah, it stinks lol
Bonus! Here's a video the guy did about Kid Rock's "All Summer Long" and it's even funnier:

I think it gets underrated because it was the "big" single, like Man in the Box. But it's a banger, like Man in the Box.
