catch the rainbow would be out of place here

I think it would flow nicely after Starstruck's firm ending and the transition with Stargazer would rule too.

"Do You Close Your Eyes" was a disappointing way to end RISING, but it still doesn't diminish the greatness of everything else on that album. Even classic albums occasionally can have at least one misfire.

Do You Close Your Eyes is still a nice, catchy and fun tune
Kill the King or Gates of Babylon would've been a better fit though

I really enjoy Do You Close Your Eyes for what it is, especially the pre-chorus.
I think another epic on here such as Gates of Babylon would be too much but I do agree that a transition between Light in the Black and Stargazer would be a good thing. Catch the Rainbow would certainly be an interesting pick or even Rainbow Eyes.

I've known about this record for years and just assumed it wouldn't be my thing due to hearing how influencial to power metal it was but I'm going to immediately get it solely because of A Light In The Black

cant deny these riffs, blackmore's a god

Even love the vocals which is probably the biggest surprise
Can't wait to be washed over by the riff cascades

This is so good
Also what's that talk about Do You Close Your Eyes being the closer, every version I've seen including mine has it before Stargazer and Light In The Black

Ronnie Romero really does justice to the song. He was a great choice by Blackmore
