Yeah I'd totally 5 this if it weren't for "Do You Close Your Eyes"

It is still a catchy, well performed song, obviously the weakest in here

But it brings the healthy, small dose of cheesiness that we all love in small doses

There's plenty of cheese throughout.

Besides Do You Close your Eyes and maybe Starstruck I'd say it is an extremly catchy album, which doesn't mean cheese necessarily

True, Jamie. But like Gentleman said, it's mostly tasty cheese.

And very influential like dang I don't get how some critics labeled Rainbow as a Deep Purple wannabe.

Its cheesiness has nothing to do with it being catchy. It's Dio-era Rainbow, of course it's cheesy.

Blackmore is a renowned cheese maker.

I mean, I definitely get why some guys like Jamie would take Deep Purple any day over Rainbow

But on the other hand, I think prefering this one is not even close to being a "crazy" choice, I really think it has elements that make sense for people to prefer it (including me)

But like Deep Purple was still about girls and bluesy stuff whereas this is full-fledged fantasy metal...which I guess is where the cheese critique comes in. Still very groundbreaking and holds up to any '76 heavy metal album like Sad Wings.

There's really not a single note in this album that I don't find to be perfect, it is just fun, epic and definitely extremly well performed. It is my favorite "fun" album and maybe musically speaking

If I want something serious, that has a lot of meaning and stuff, that's where my other favorite album, Crime of the Century, comes in

Do you close your eyes is probably my second most overplayed song from this album

I think I've already said this a couple of times, but guys, get the L.A. Mix of the album, with an actual bass on it, the sound and production feels way better, it is like the album getting back its missing link

Definitely an obvious proto-power metal album but there are definitely neo-classic and prog metal elements on it too

I've always believed Tarot Woman is the first prog metal song

That being said, while I get the critics to power metal (I'm not a fan of it either) I really think this is in a different league to the contemporary albums of the genre

TONS OF INNOVATION, JUST REMEMBER THAT A LIGHT IN THE BLACK SOUNDS LIKE A NINTENDO SONG

yea it invented one of the worst metal genres of all time, pseudo-hard rock with not very good use of keyboards, cheesy af etc.
