the thing is that almost no one actually does take it seriously and it's not meant to be taken seriously. it's actually sort of
a running joke at my college because theme parties are a big part of the "culture" around here and there's this one thrift
shop that everyone goes to to buy ridiculous outfits for the average Friday or Saturday night. as such, Thrift Shop is
played at pretty much everything here. it's fun to be in a room full of drunk people "singing" along to the chorus.
