Glad they kept the beard-skull mascot even with Jason Wisdom gone. The thing's wonderfully goofy. Only heard a few songs, but I didn't think it was as bad as all this. If the overall quality is consistent with the quality of the tracks I heard, it's probably a 3.5, which would put this above their par for me. I've never really thought they were great; The Physics of Fire some fantastic tracks, but it's very inconsistent, and the rest of their albums are pretty meh imho.

Also, Jason Wisdom's vocals always annoyed me. I like the new guy quite a bit more.

Review is thorough, but too verbose! You can tell it's written by an English major. But... iridescent scales is kinda badass. Just tone down the language a bit, I dont' want to feel like I'm reading a term paper.

The main thing that makes the album average for me is the over usage of breakdowns. Breakdowns can enhance an album when used right but this is ridiculous. I guess you heard "The Time Bender" or "The Planet Maker", they're catchy tracks but the breakdowns drag for far too long & the clean vocals on the latter are very out of time. That's my opinion. Some people might enjoy this / others not.

They were great, do you listened to Terminate Damnation or CC or even Dichotomy. Very above average metalcore band.
