It is not an analysis of the album's technical or thematic excellence/failure. Indeed "Dark Passion Play" has both technical and thematic excellence in spades, but that's no secret; it can be readily heard by anyone. Frankly, though, I don't feel that it is especially important with this album.

Most recently, I've come across "Dark Passion Play". It's been labeld as "Classic," "Legendary," "Untouchable." It even managed to work it's way to the top of Sputnik's "Top Albums of the Decade" It ranked above such megatons as Tool's "Lateralus" (my favorite album of all time, and the album which spurred the growth and maturation of my musical tastes) and Radiohead's "Kid A" (which I don't care for personally but respect nonetheless).
