Tonight's Decision is my #2

Still not sure how I feel about this one. It's not that I don't like it, it's that from my first listen, it sounds so... ummm... redundant. The familiar drum patterns (which surprises me, actually), and the overwhelming lack of creative riffs. Probably needs a few more spins. The last album was a huge grower for me and it turned into one of my favorites, so I'm hoping that this will follow suit.

It might grow on you, you never know. I love "Undo You" and "Lethean" the most.

Started listening to this now and already I'm impressed. Melodic and heavy without being over bearing, and the vocals actually have some somber emotion to them.

My rating will probably drop to 3, I enjoy 3 - 4 songs but Im not feeling it overall. I can recognise its qualities but it leaves no impression on me, there is too much sterility and redudancy to it.
*sigh* I fucking love NITND but have yet to find another Katatonia album that I really enjoy.

Shogun, that's the first Katatonia album I got. What other albums do you recommend me?

As usual karl you confuse me
Are you really that surprised? hahaha
that's usually the best way to approach albums like this Wizard
And I love Katatonia so I don't know why this isn't clicking. I did the same thing for Kentucky by Panopticon and I came back to it a while later and ended up liking it a lot more (mind you I erased all the junky folk shit out of the album and kept all the awesome bm tunage).

I listened to this a few days ago.

Exactly my problem with it. This doesn't set itself apart at all from their last 2 albums.

Yep, dropped this to a 3, it just didnt make good on the promise that was Dead Letters.

i honestly dont know why people lump TGCD and NITND together, i mean, TGCD was like one style all the way through minus 2 or 3 songs, where NITND was way more varied than it, just so happens i think this album is a sever stripped down version of nitnd with better vocals with some flashbacks to last fair deal gone down (chorus to ambitions, leathean which is like a combination of ashen and LFDGD, etc.)
Dont get me wrong, i welcome the LFDGD flashbacks, its their best album, followed by nitnd and their first 2 abums

I'm actually surprised how I dislike this album as it feels like rather harmless art rock. Every song sounds practiacally the same. Really struggling to finish this.
