Also, why did you drop BVB's live DVD to a 4 from a 5?

I also dropped BVB's fourth album from a 5, to a 4.5, then to a 4.

The live DVD had some technical issues that upon repeated viewings got really annoying to the point where I couldn't ignore them.

As for BVB's fourth album, Bob Rock's shitty production took away a large portion of the impact, making what should have been a 5/5 into a 4/5

Fair enough. Just seemed like an unusual drop for me since lives only get better for me, never worse.

Live performances usually get better for me too, but when it's my favorite band, I'm gonna be a little more critical. The band themselves were fucking ace, and the modern twist they put on their older songs was fantastic.

Yeah production and whether the songs translate well in the live setting/with the live mix chosen is a massive part in whether the show will be good.

Those drums sound shit, but nice performance actually. Also Andy in the chorus repeats sounds the exact same every single time and I don't like that.

I actually enjoy Andy doing that, and I agree the drum tone was annoying which is one of the reasons why I knocked it down.

Actually a better way to say is that despite not listening to the album version Andy sounds very safe and too aligned to a studio version, makes it sound less live.

I enjoy it when a vocalist sounds as good live as they do in studio. It is pretty similar to the original but the added screams and his live fluctuations make it a great performance.

Okay so it does have extra stuff plus differences, good because just from listening to the video and not the studio version I thought there wasn't. I obviously want them to sound as good as possible but not note per note like the studio version.

Yeah dude; I'm so hyped for BVB album five but details have been kept super tight on it. He recorded BVB 5 at the same time as the Andy Black record so hopefully it won't be too much longer until it's out.

I think they worked with John Feldmann again (who produced Blink 182's new album, along with BVB 3 and Andy Black) so I'm double hyped.

I feel like this is a scenario where when you find something that is "objectively" better than this your interest in this album will wane.
By that I mean surely there are bands who have albums that are technically better and are regarded as pillars of the genre while this is not.

He's 1694 albums in and it's still his fav album, I don't think that is going to happen.
