Misadventures is a weird one for me. I enjoy it, but nothing drives me to listen to it like this album does. Just wished it had more character or something. Still makes for a fun road trip album though.

"That being said I do want to give A Flair For The Dramatic another go, I love the opening track but everything else seems like a blur."

Man, Currents Convulsive, I'd Rather Die than Be Famous (catchiest song ever), Yeah Boy and Doll Face, She Sings in the Morning, Drella, Wonderless... Those songs hit so hard and carry a ton of emotional weight.

A Flair for the Dramatic is a concept album so maybe following along with the story and dark tone of it elevates it to that next level but I think it's one of the pinnacle albums of the scene/post-hardcore.

Also, She Makes Dirty Words Sound Pretty not having an official release version anywhere to stream is criminal. Gorgeous song and one of the first I ever learned how to play.

OK... I'm liking their debut a lot more than I remember. Has a completely different feel to their other stuff like you said, much more raw! She Sings In The Morning absolutely slays! I doubt it'll top Collide With The Sky for me though. Feel similarly about Paramore's debut (being raw) versus Brand New Eyes (being HUGE!). Collide With The Sky is too much of a powerhouse in my opinion.

It is raw but they nailed it with the creative song structures and all the vocal layers. I like that it doesn't have the glossy sheen to it and I feel like they lost their edge when Selfish Machines came out. Glad you like She Sings in the Morning - probably my favorite after Wonderless.

Love the Paramore comp, Mental.

This, like Brand New Eyes, really fired on all cylinders while also serendipitously dropping at the height of their respective scene's popularity. Every song here bangs and the pacing is immaculate. You could certainly listen to other albums in this scene, but you don't need to after listening to this. It's all here and done remarkably well.

Misadventures was fun, but I think it was a little clunky as the best songs tended to be the ones that sounded like they would be on Collide With the Sky and a lot of the new ideas were sort of half-measures. Still enjoyed it a great deal, but definitely didn't top this. Curious to see whatever the hell they've been working on and where they go from there. Vic is a helluva songwriter, so even more of the same would be fine with me given that they already dropped this certified classic

I hope it's solid, after that sordid business with Mike

yeah, not terribly surprising given that they are a scene band but still awful. Also not great that they haven't exactly distanced themselves from him in the way you'd like lol

Because he technically didnt break any laws, he was just dodgy. And the fact him and Vic are related... Would you really ditch your family?

I couldn't cut my brother off, if i'd been close as hell, in a band with him for years, and found out that he made a stupid mistake. He was never arrested or charged, and technically didn't break a law. Sure, he was immoral and a cunt, and he deserved to lost his place in the band, but not his family.

New song absolutely rules. Pretty different for them but I like that it's kind of their take on grunge. Makes me excited that they are trying something new

Just giving the new song a listen, wasn't expecting it be so gritty haha. Really digging the direction change, Vic's harsh vocals sound even better than ever too on this, really suits the darker tone. Have a feeling this new album is going to be taking on a load of different genres if anything though. The title "Pass the Nirvana" is basically them saying "Hey, this is our grunge song" to me. I wouldn't mind a full on grunge Pierce The Veil album though, that would be sick! Just hoping for more variety this time round.

Yeah, I'd be cool if they went full-on into the sound of the single. I've seen some people complaining they don't shred like they used to on here, but I don't think this song really requires that. The groove is good and the vibes are immaculate

Yeah I fuck with the new song. Absolutely not what I expected them to come back with and that's a big positive for me.

I'm an A Flair for the Dramatic kind of guy and prefer their harder edged darker sound to this.
