I'm Low On Gas still has one of the best choruses I've ever heard.

I am hearing a lot of this in Hail the Sun's last album Mental Knife. Took me awhile to put my finger on it, but here we are. I would love for PTV to come back and top this work of art.

Probably best "scene" band that existed.

Wow this album is way better than I remember. Just picked it up in a lot of CDs and decided to give it another shot. Super melodramatic.

There was some terrible scene shit. I loved every second of it but some of those bands were truly awful.

This album simply is the best of its class. And has aged incredibly well. Even now I'm older, I still can't help but belt out this album in the car from start to finish. It's just a delightfully fun time!

Just listen to this whole thing and it ruled. Really can't think of a better album in this style.

The debut is one of my all-time favorites and I can't tell you how many times I've listened to it over the past 15 years. The atmosphere and concept of it are great and I think PtV lost something when they drifted away from their punk influences. The debut and the Before Today album are easily their best IMO.

Wonderless is a song I'd call potentially top 20 of all time but seriously A Flair for the Dramatic never gets old.

This is their best album, but Disasterology is their best song in my opinion. Was never crazy on the first album though, but loved this and enjoyed Misadventures... And bits of Selfish Machines. Might need to revisit the first album now you said that to be fair.

I think Vic used all his best ideas between Before Today and A Flair for the Dramatic. The melodies and vocal layers are so ridiculously creative and it has a tone similar to Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. It's more of an experience.

Everything since then, starting with Selfish Machines, switched to a shiny pop punk sound with screams and they're catchy songs but they don't hold any emotional weight like the early stuff, so none of it every resonated with me. This album is more by the numbers scene-core.

Appreciate your opinion but couldn't disagree more. This album rules! By the numbers Scene-core or not, every song hits hard, is insanely contagious and definitely has some emotional weight at least. I mean, Props & Mayhem, I'm Low on Gas, Stained Glass Eyes, Hold on Till May and heck... Throw in the end of Bulls In The Bronx too, they're some of the most emotional songs this band has ever wrote.

That being said I do want to give A Flair For The Dramatic another go, I love the opening track but everything else seems like a blur.

I used to hate these guys but last year I revisited them and this album actually owns so hard. Still can't get into the debut or the album after this tho lol
