This is a really nice review, Chan, so have an imaginary pos, but really? This album? Alright, man.

holy crap that last paragraph is overwhelmingly true

i'm not a huge fan of this album, but i can't deny its significance. absolutely nails the idea of kids who were growing up in the early 2000s, the idea that something wasn't quite right with America but they didn't know what to do about it except get sort of angry and then just deal with it.

course then you got a bunch of kids who never got to the "deal with it" phase BUT STILL

tl;dr killer review.

'the album is also incredibly tactful, despite its blunt title. The verbal witch-hunt that the Dixie Chicks faced in 2003 when they announced to a British audience that they were against the war and “ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas” was avoided by Green Day at a time when even the slightest whiff of supposed anti-Americanism was decried at every turn (President Bush’s response was uncharacteristically smooth and clever, allowing that the Chicks were free to speak their opinion in America, “in stark contrast to Iraq,” '

I don't get how President Bush took that comment so well when he was pretty much heartbroken when Kanye decreed that Bush hated Black people. He said it was perhaps "the worst moment of his presidency."
