This is a good album, but in my opinion; this is where Death started going down. This album lacked the heaviness that previous albums had.

I like all the stuff from this onward better than anything before it; although Leprocy is a damn fine death metal album.

I wonder what would've happened if Paul never joined Death...

Thinking about upping this to a 5. It's just so fucking good...

And the band's line-up on this album is possibly the greatest death metal supergroup possible.

no difference, Chuck did all the bands songwriting

ITP has the best line-up imo

Actually, Paul said that he helped Chuck write some riffs and I assume that's why Chuck chose to take a more progressive direction.

i didn't know that, i wouldn't be suprised if it was the beginning of Lack Of Comprehension he helped with

Spiritual Healing was already leaning towards the prog. dm style so to me Human just sounds like a natural progression from that, I don't think it had anything to do with the other members of the band he played with

Hm, I never heard Spiritual Healing so I wouldn't know. Maybe it was a combination of a natural progression and Paul's ideas.

spiritual healing is pretty much midway between Leprosy and this. the only problem is most of the songs are a bit too long

Actually I just found out that Paul toured during the Leprosy promotion shows so maybe interacting with Paul helped Chuck think in a more progressive way for Spiritual Healing. Who knows.

This is where he talks about it though:

I'm fairly certain that Chuck is credited for writing every song, no one else

yeah thats strange he probably helped write some riffs but not enough to be given song-writing credits idk

Most likely.

Nah, but then again I do have some bias seeing as how Cynic was the first death metal-esque band I ever loved.

i'm not really a fan of LaRoque but Chuck, Steve and Gene all on one album? thats best guitarist/vocalist, best metal bassist ever, best metal drummer ever
