Revisiting this and man is it hitting hard. The opening triumvirate is phenomenal. Those melancholic melodies. Monolithic gets overused as a descriptor far too often but this fits the bill. This truly is ‘heavy’ and by that I mean like emotionally heavy too. Bleak, draining, enveloping.
I prefer this to Godflesh and although Man/Woman works well in context, it serves as a reminder of why I wouldn’t necessarily yearn for an entire album of that sound on the regular
