Still am not convinced freaking out over words is helping gay culture become more accepted, if anything that type of rhetoric is keeping people away from supporting gay culture.

I think it sounds kinda dumb when rappers say f-ggot but acting like it makes him a horrible person or ruins the album is kinda absurd imo

"I got several gay friends who call me a faggot whenever I act like a pussy and the don't give a fuck when someone uses faggot or gay in a negative way because they know it has nothing to do with their sexuality.

And literally everyone uses nigga, how about we stop being hypocritical as fuck and stop acting like it still has some kind of impact."

It must be wonderful to live in a bubble.

If you keep getting offended by a word that's lost all meaning due to changes in culture and acceptance of homosexuality sure, I won't use the word, but you're probably still a faggot.

Words have not lost their meaning, context is relevant but someone using slurs against someone else still has an effect on people.

These things may not bother you but you can't tell everyone to react to something the same way you do.

What annoys me is the people freaking out about words generally seem to be doing absolutely nothing else to improve society. It's like an over-compensation for their guilt of being self-absorbed, they make a lazy effort to insult people and act self righteous for having the trivial willpower to refrain from using a certain word.

In the meantime a club full of gay people gets slaughtered and the best solution these people have is "get rid of that certain type of gun he had (so he can easily go but a different one)"' and vote for Hillary the candidate getting tens of millions of dollars from countries hat execute gays.

The whole slur outrage just seems like people fronting, it's counterproductive. Most leftists care more about appearing to be righteous than actually being righteous and improving the world.

There's this pretty dumb commercial here in Arizona were they make this guy look like a Bully using slow mo, but you find out he's actually nice and supports his gay friends(who are kissing right in front of him). Then he says something like "hey are you coming to the party on xxx" and the couple's like "hell yea". Then the "looks like a bully" guy gets complemented on his jacket by a black guy and the black guy's like "Dude..I'm loving your jacket!" and the "looks like a bully guy" is like "don't be such a fag" in a joking manner and the gays are offended from like 20 feet away. I'm always stunned how ironically stupid that commercial is.

I don't think people should be needlessly offended but it's pretty easy to say something else besides faggot, which, despite context, definitely has a certain past connotation that's hard to shake. Personally, I just avoid it because I don't see a need for it. Plenty of other words out there.

" own rampantly homophobic and ableist language that more often than not contradicts pretty much every view point i've ever see from you."

You do realize I'm bi-curious right? Using offensive language isn't good and I don't use it much at all really in real life, but it's the internet. It's all about who you're with, what time is appropriate etc. Basically just context honestly.

I avoid it too but at the same time I don't realize how a lot of people assume that because I use it on the internet or because I'm defending the idea of using bad words in a certain context that I'm a homophobic bigot. It doesn't make sense to me at all. I don't use these words nilly willy irl, in fact I never use them. There's hardly a situation where "faggot" is funny. But defending the use of it in certain contexts , or using it on the internet in certain causes, doesn't make me a bigot.

the whole thing is a politicized mess. Every time someone says faggot a democratic politician has a orgasm, they love playing politics with identities. Obama and hillary were anti gay marriage about 3-4 years ago, their shameless flip flop when the movement became politically popular should tell all people they need to know.

Instead... Gays are routinely murdered by radical Muslims worldwide, republicans favor killing these Muslims but remarkably lgbt still sides with the democrats and actually had the nerve to blame republicans "hate" for the Orlando attack. (You know, not real hate, but taking Donald trumps speeches out of context.

Absolutely bizarre watching "pro-gays" ignore violent hate and invent/exxagerate hate based on the use of slurs or microagressions. It's all a political game that benefits the democratic party. People think they can stay out of politics, they can't, everything is political.

I don't automatically think someone's a huge bigot for saying it. I think maybe it lacks taste, depending on the context, but like I said, I just prefer not to use it myself. To each their own and all that.

By the way Pots I kind of have to apologize, I didn't read your message till today and honestly I agree with you. I was reading CryptKeeper's very thinly, basically just skimming over it. All I know is that my gay friends are pretty cool and don't get offended ,I wasn't saying it's right to stereotype every use of a word. Sorry for the confusion(and believe me i'm not anti-lgbt)

Entirely correct(though it's not a lack of taste in certain cases, but you already said that lol).

I understand where it can be offensive. Doesn't mean I want to or think it's right to mentally coddle everyone, but I don't see a point in using it often.

Yep. there's basically no reason to use cuss words but something like "faggot" even more so.
