This album is really, really good. Much better than expected (basically I don't trust NME, so anything they say is good that actually is good is better than expected, nmw).

I actually think the opening track, The View From the Afternoon, is my favourite track here. There's just something about it that gets to me even more than the rest...maybe just the pleasent surprise when I heard it first, having not really heard the guys before. Anyway, it's still, many months later, my fave track here. This Message Edited On 02.15.07

I think the first track should end when you think it ends a little more than halfway through the song.

I love how "everybody" from the US hates UK music. like e.g. these guys and Mika, both of which are artists I like a lot.

A mate of mine is a huge Monkeys fan. I'd heard their hits on the radio, but other than that wasn't very familiar with them.

My mate persuaded me to go with him see them live. The first real Monkeys I've listened to was live, and it was amazing!

Good review, these guys are sound. Slightly hyped, as you said, but one of the better British acts in recent years. This Message Edited On 06.28.07

Some classics, see riot van and fake tales...it's just let down by the endless fillers though.

I listened to this album every day for 6 months in 2006 and loved it. No denying that this is one of the best indie albums ever. This Message Edited On 07.30.08

As a 16 year old this is one of my favourite ever albums. What's the Story... and Document by R.E.M are the only albums that to me are comparable.Almost every song is catchy and dance-able,and the lyrics take hold of you.Its a big shame we've hardly seen them the last yearThis Message Edited On 12.20.08

I really, really like this album. I also liked FWN, although not quite as much. I hope their next one is as good as this.
