I also thought it was kind of epic that what Meshuggah's style got super popular and they didn't even cash in on it for 4 years you think they'd try to start pumping out albums as fast as possible. Then they're like fuck you here is legit djent, Periphery faggots.

so, i don't know number to drop on this yet, but haake is an absolute monster on these tracks. it seems like all the songs were written around his drum parts, just kind of dancing around the shit he's doing. i like it a lot so far..

"It comes from Meshuggah, a band that, for as skilled and mind bending as they are, have basically released the same album over and over again since 1995's Destroy Erase Improve..."
While I feel the review was pretty well done, I thoroughly disagree with this statement. I feel they are a band you have to... really dig into to understand the difference between releases. They definitely don't try to wear it on their sleeves.

According to the DVD while they set out to make a more organic album in which they wrote and recorded everything together in the studio they only really did that for one song, then they just went off and each did their own thing to bring to the table like they did with obZen

^ which normally starts with Haake jamming and coming up with awesome beats, then they build the track around that, for the most part anyways

Exactly. They also struggled with The Last Vigil, they didnt know wether to include it or where to put it on the album because of how different it was than the other tracks but ultimately decided for it to be the closer.
