And after searching the internets for years, I've found people that really love prog or have a really twisted sense of sarcasm.

Not gonna lie if my dad wasnt the biggest Genesis fan on the planet I wouldnt know much about this band other than their 80s shit. I would have probably checked them out at some point but Im guessing most people didnt grow up with their dads listening to this stuff. They were pretty underground then even if they were gaining steam in the prog movement.

It all comes down to the age of most people here. Its sad to say that alot of good music gets lost in time. Its up to parents to keep it alive and show their kids whats good. So yea blame the parents for listening to shitty music.

Agreed with YankeeDudel. My parents' love for prog is the cause of mine.

Well Im just saying its obvious looking at most older albums here that they dont get as much attention as newer albums. Thats just the way it is and its only going to get worse as more time passes. People are always going to favor the music thats being made in their era first and foremost. I know I favor the 90s/00s the most but I try to get as much 80s, 70s, and 60s music as I can. My dad has alot to do with that too.

And then there are that obnoxious people my age that listen to Sinatra and tear all general theories down. But agreed on the main points, though.

I listen to Sinatra too. Im Italian and grew up on that music too. Grandparents played the shit out of that kind of music and they thought like all rock was horrible lol. Thats what I mean that people are always going to favor the music they grew up with. The absolute classics will stand the test of time most likely but alot of the 2nd/3rd tier groups will fade into obscurity soon enough.
