honestly i've listened to this a fair few times over the years but it has never really clicked, maybe i'd have more luck with other genesis albums?

If this is the only Gabriel Genesis album you know, I really recommend checking out Foxtrot and Nursery Cryme... I had kind of a hard time getting into this as well, but those made me appreciate this more and it finally clicked. Checking out the lyrics was helpful too, some of them are hilarious

I agree, Foxtrot is definitely superior. I like this a bit more than Nursery Cryme though. Lamb Lies Down On Broadway is pretty different from the trilogy of albums before it, but it's also excellent, even though I don't think it's quite on the same level as its percursors. Those four are definitely worth checking out though
