This music does not lend itself well to live performance, or I was not nearly stoned enough (at all).

It's amazing, how much of an opposite the two periods of Earth career is. Their early stuff is some of the darkest, heaviest drone metal you can find, but their post 2000 records are some of the best, most relaxing minimalist intrumental rock I've heard. The Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light albums are a perfect testamament to that, although I like Vol 2. just a bit better that Vol 1.

Nice to see someone else who digs Vol. 2. That record's subtlety is often underappreciated, in my opinion.

Funny story about Vol. 2: I purchased a vinyl copy of the album without ever having heard it and did not look closely enough to see that these particular 12'' records were supposed to be played at 45 RPM. I listened to it at 33 1/3 RPM for the first couple months before discovering my mistake. It was a slow, spaced-out Earth record so nothing really sounded too out of character.

So yeah, I've experienced every nuance of this record in slo-mo.

Angels Vol. 2 more like Hex Vol. 4 amirite

Idk why I never listened to this or anything else that came after Pt. 1. Got it saved on my Bandcamp to jam. m/
