i wish they woulda continued with the style on this album, but hopefully they pull off the whole "raw bm" thing. I think there're supposed to still be violins and fancy junk on the new album, so it might still have some of the ideas they used here.

far as i can tell it's just the fact that they can never stick with one style between releases and they never seem to put a unique spin on it (besides this one to an arguable extent)
they do multiple styles well tho so it doesn't bother me much

they started off as like a bastard metalcore Emperor worship band that appealed to core kids, so everyone hated them (back when metalcore was big and it was kvlt to hate core), then they went faux bm and they were meh, then they did this album and they became listenable.

This band.. I really dug the Legend EP when it came out. It was amateur melodic black/death metal, but definitely had some charm. Then the 1st full length where they got Trym from Emperor to record the drums (?!) was ok, the final song The Departure is a gem for sure. Then they changed their style. Then they changed their style again (for the better), so who knows what to even expect from this. I bet they changed their style.
