the vocals on the second track remind me of lana del rey, although those are probably influenced by someone else as well

Yeah, it just surprised me you haven't heard 'til '12.

I mean I didn't consciously sit down to listen to it until whenever but I basically already knew the majority of the album due to chillout background music mixes and shit from friends.

I've never really been in contact with the music or people who like massive attack

Keeping in mind I only really started listening to music in 2007ish and even then it took a while to really take off

Idk man. I just always thought this album was at least somewhat known outside of Sputnik and when you've been here some time you most likely check out the "insider classics".

and I did. I'm just slow with these things

and yeah it's still considered a classic outside of sputnik but they're not the most mainstream bands

Even the mainstream isn't really mainstream anymore. At least where I live.

How do you mean?

In the UK, the mainstream is dominated by spillover from the US, X Factor contestants and wishy washy indie/R&B. Anyone else, most people won't know about

Well, pop music exists. But not everybody cares about it, just today I talked to two guys about rap and we made fun of the charts and I showed one of them Big Boi.

The other dude actually listened to a lot of hardcore/metalcore and stuff like that. So even a lot of "normal" people here don't that much for pop or also listen to other stuff.

I do know what you mean.

The people who vocally deride pop are very prominent but even so they all listen to a wide range of things so pop remains the largest sector. And of course media is flooded with it.
