It is heavy in a different sense of the word, but it doesn't equate to brutality imo I guess. Like not heavy instrumentally but atmospherically suffocating. Idk, feels different from raw brutality to me. Like i wouldn't call this brutal at all in the same way that like, defeated sanity for example are brutal

Nah, I think these guys are easily heavier than Defeated Sanity, though that band is also fantastic. Like the guitars sound huger and more apocalyptic and the production seems so pummeling and abrasive. The drums are like boulder hail. The chords are like your head or the earth being ripped in half. Few things embody pure evil like the first moments of the t/t.

I think those huge, richly textured, and terrifying wall of sound guitars always read way heavier to me than bands with a flurry of notes. I definitely like Portal more than DS but that's me.
