Form your own opinion cause it's a different feel for everyone depending on what you like. I personally recommend it.

I don't think this sucks, and even though I think it has very little to offer, I can see why others like it.
XIVIX: I've heard it about 3 times in full and I don't think I'm going to be revisiting it for a fourth time, although I've taken a couple great tracks from this. I'm glad I listened in full because "Turn loose the Mermaids" is one of my favorite songs from 2011.

Song of Myself rips a melody from the Angels and Demons film score, which I thought was really cool.

1/3rd is great, 1/3rd is "get it out of my stereo", and the rest is just there, but mildly amusing to pretty decent.
I love Slow, Love, Slow though. Kind of random, but hey, if it works, why not.
Nightwish's heyday of creativity seems to be over, though. Also, I like Anette on this record.

Holy shit, it's Altmer!

Also, I too like Annette on this record. I don't know why everyone seems to be complaining; she's quite talented.

She may not have Tarja's techniques or even talent, but she is the right singer for "these" Nightwish.

I had heard that this is what a heavier ABBA would sound like, is this true? As a general rule I immediately dismiss European metal bands with good looking female vocalists.

It has nothing to do with Abba, I'd say Imaginaerum is a mix between old Nightwish and some Danny
Elfman soundtracks, especially the ones he did for Tim Burton.

Hahaha; ABBA? Hell no

This is everything Nightwish has done in the past 15 years smudged into one album....plus some.
I still have my review to finish and may post it over the next couple week. If not I'll definitely have it by the US release date of this.

I'm kinda stuck between a 2.5 and a 3. I like Storytime and Slow, Love, Slow is awesome, but the rest of the album ranges between okay and somewhat run-of-the-mill to way over the top.
