^lol
i havent got this one (yet) but i have evil empire and battle of los angeles (and love them) and have heard most of this album. Freedom is one of the best songs on the album but township rebellion is the current favorite (all-time fav is Killing in the name of and bombtrack)
5/5 Easily absolute classic.
I don't think Tim slap's In bombtrack. In the recording he used a Fender Precision Bass thats why the Bass sounds so Hardcore Punky.
timmy c used a musicman stingray for the self titled recording and moved to a jazz bass with a P bass neck and another jazz bass for future albums
the rage self titled album is legendary, one of the best albums of all time

The greatest album ever. One of the first alternate albums I heard as a youngster and will always remain the greatest in my opinion.

I went to this Music Sale a few weeks back and got loads of albums, on friends recommendations, inc. the whole Jamoroquai catalogue, Nevermind (****) some Metallica stuff and this album. Although with Met. and RATM I was a little unsure cuz I'm not that into heavy stuff I was really impressed with this album. Excellent musicians and Zak De La Rocha is an angry young man. The lyrics are accessibly political if youj know what I mean. Wake Up is an incredible song. This is my fave album of the stuff I brought.

The cover kind of creeps me out though. It's real btw, some Tibetan monk set himself alight for a protest. Very effective for the album, especially seeing as track no.1 s(b.track) chorus goes a little like this, 'You're gonna burn! You're gonna burn! I'm gonna watch you burn!!!'
Creepy.

This has been one of my favourite albums for most of my life. A really really great album, and review.

Excellent album, could only really rate it as a 5/5.

I can't really add anything, except that this is one of the best albums of the '90s, and indeed one of the best of all time. Full of great tracks, from Bullet In The Head to Know Your Enemy to Freedom. They never quite hit these peaks again, but even if you haven't heard anything by them before, I think you should get this album. I don't really like "heavy" music, and even I think it's incredible.

I love this CD, but I swear I'm to only person who thinks that Evil Empire is their best CD in it's entirety.

The best album in their genre in the past 2 decades by far(OK computer was far more awesome to say this is the best album all around). Nothing should be rated lower than a 4.5 and for that matter freedom should be a 5
Rage is the best band of our time, right next to radiohead. IMO don't hate, celebrate.

one thing i feel i must say... the reviewer uses "typical" a lot in the review and Rage is far from typical... thats all
|

one of the best albums ever recorded

Tom: I think they aren't a typical band as such, but I was reffering to their "typical" sound. I think they have one/

i think this album is amazing. my band cover 'killing in the name of' and it took me a while to learn the bass, but it was all worth it. Know your enemy, take the power back, and killing in the name of are my favourite tracks. Lyricaly there amazing, Timmy C is a god, Morello, what else can be said, and i dont know anything about drums so i'll let someone else comment on that. However iv never really got into Audioslave.
5/5 for the album and the review
