This one started the beginning of their long slump, IMO.

Why are Sony being pieces of shit? Rare to find on vinyl, not on Spotify, iTunes or anywhere. All I have is an old cd version from 2003.

It cheeses me off so much that this isn't available on Spotify in the US. I would never listen to it, but the fact that I CANT listen to it annoys me.

This always gets lost in the mix for me in terms of COF albums because of all the filler, but gonna jam again now. Still lots of great songs here.

It's a concept album about Paradise Lost by COF... It's overlong and pompous, what did you want? It's actually criminally underrated. It's only so long because there's an orchestral interlude every couple songs.

Yeah that the filler I'm talking about. Pretty much double the interludes that they have ever had on any album. Bumped the rating though because the great songs hit so hard.

You get why they did that though right? They signed to fucking Sony for this album, the budget on this thing was insane. And instead of pocketing most of it, they hired like a fucking 80-piece orchestra/choir... This album should get way more respect. The filler is there because they went to great lengths to make it really cinematic. It works imo, I just don't usually have the patience to listen to all the interludes personally. Cause I'm frothing at the mouth for more Cradle. :P

Super late to that last conversation, but I distinctly remember this being a huge deal when it came out. Still don't get how people don't love it if they dig other COF. The only thing that really bugs me about it besides the filler stuff is the guitar tone.

the guitar tone sucks so hard and (most of) the songs are not very good tbh ... it has a couple joops that save it overall

But The Smoke Of Her Burning though...

Album has a couple of very strong songs, and I personally like the interludes. Only thing that doesn't work for me strangely is Mannequin.
