nice i tried to do something similar but petered out after "things we lost in the fire"
should continue it again. i think double negative and hey what will remain my favorites though, would be surprised if something overtook them

Yeah same exact take here. HEY WHAT and Double Negative are dramatically better than any other Low album I've heard, this included. There are a handful of releases I straight up haven't heard tho, like: Trust, Great Destroyer, Drums & Guns, Invisible Way. I'm just hoping I can compile a playlist of great Low songs, even if I don't have the urge to return to full albums.

yeah theyre definitely a playlist kind of band for me (aside from their latest two), there are some stunners across various albums but a lot of their albums are pretty homogeneous, especially if you listen to them in quick succession

Yeah for sure a singles band. I do enjoy full spins of their albums but i rly need to be in the right headspace, which I'm luckily in atm. "Slide" is still incredible, prob my favourite thing here.
Btw I meant to ask someone: any of their EPs worth hearing?

This album absolutely does not hold up but it has some superb tracks for sure. Lullaby is crazy overrated and doesn't justify its run time even if the latter half is great, and I'd apply the same to Down; the 2 longest tracks on the album and they're exhausting to get through being nearly back-to-back. A lot of the latter half just falls flat for me too. Words, Slide, and Lazy are all superb, however

I prefer this era of Low to Double Negative by a landslide margin, guess I still don't really get that album. Agreed that their slowcore stuff can sound homogenous, but honestly I dig the vibe so all's good there (although I wouldn't wish to hear their albums consecutively).
HEY WHAT is essentially a masterpiece and up there with the greatest late-career reinventions of all-time

Good choice đź‘Ť My go-to pick from this era has always been The Curtain Hits the Cast. Also recently listened to the B sides compilation which is just as good.
