The bookends are out-of-this-world stuff, but as a whole it isn't much greater than most of their other albums, imo.

For years I had heard that riff from Godspeed and never knew what it was from. Glad to finally find out (and also this album is great).

This album has come back into rotation so hard for me lately. Even rec'd Unwinding Cable car to a friend of mine today. She had never even heard of the band.

Who would you compare this band to? Just a comparison so I have an idea of whether I’d like them.

I like Alice In Chains, Deftones, Tool, NIN, Thrice, Soundgarden, Modest Mouse, Brand New, Manchester Orchestra, Smashing pumpkins…the list is infinite.

@lark of the bands you mentioned, they’re closest to Manchester Orchestra. Very anthemic, catchy alt rock. You should find something to enjoy here or post-New Surrender

And as far as pop punk goes, I grew up listening to blink since dude ranch, I know there are a few others. I’m liking TBS which is kindof in that vein. Love Deja Entendu.

this is def more alt rock but it def has pepperings in there. the album before much more so

the slower stuff here is really stunning and the closer is a big ol grandiose epic that knocks it out of the park. havent jammed this in a while but im overdue. great band

Hell yeah, definitely sounds up my alley. I’m gonna start with the debut and go chronologically. I’m gonna finish going through TWIABP and Taking Back Sunday’s discographies first though.
