being that i live in korea currently, it's awesome to see this reviewed on sputnik. that said, i don't really listen to Kpop... although i guess technically i do since it plays at every convenient store, every gym,in the subway, at the supermarket, in the bars...

Give me Rihanna/Drake etc. over k-pop any day. My sister is one of those huge k-pop fans where
everything is about who's the best looking group member rather than the actual music.
That said GG is fun and catchy in a lighthearted way. Miles better than 2NE1 for example *shudder*.

No way, keyblade. That song is AWESOME is what it is. It's very hip-hop inspired, which I dig. Can't stand Girls Generation (SNSD)'s manufactured cuteness. (Although I understand that it's appealing to other people.) 2NE1 has it going on and actually has something to say, musically and socially.

^ I lived in South Korea for a little while, and the young girls are all pressured to get plastic surgery, to be "pretty" like SNSD. Even within SNSD, there's a hierarchy according to looks. 2NE1's the kind of group they can look up to for refusing to fit the K-pop mold.
Ahem...*steps off soapbox.* But if it's just a matter of different musical taste, fair enough. 2NE1 has a more interesting mix of musical influences to me and makes me want to dance.
