The only good thing about that song was the riffz and about 30 total seconds of vocals.
I'll just listen to I again...

I haven't heard III but I thought this was well-written and easy to understand.

Dallas has been pretty open about this album's lyrics being super personal since his divorce and general hard personal life of the last two years. Whether it was right or not, he said they felt the tone of this album would be more straightforward as that was the best vehicle for him to express where he was at.
Personally, I really WANT to like this album as I love all three of their other albums, but it's really hard to. Luckily, he also mentioned that on "V" they could go back to screaming the whole time. Check out their facebook page with Dallas answering fan questions for more info on that.
I am super bummed out with this album because the actual music is boring now. They strum through 4 chord chorus's and are so predictable in where every song is going. One of the trademarks, I feel, of a Maylene album is that the songs were not straightforward and weren't predictable in where they were going to go. I don't mind Dallas singing the whole time, He is Legend's It Hates You didn't have screaming either, but that album is brilliant. This album is just not Maylene, there isn't any "disaster" on it.

So, so disappointed - this might have been better but The Damned Things basically released this album but better, last year. And Open Your Eyes - wf Maylene, it sounds like i'm listening to some b-side to an Adema record or something.

Just listened to this, and I wasn't disappointed...
because I kind of expected it to blow. I and II were good though.

So I listened to this album again, deleted after the second song. Horribad.

So sad to see this band fall apart. I and II were incredible and III was just slightly below those. I'm afraid to listen to all of this because the 3 songs I heard were entirely disappointing.

It's radio rock with some southern riffs, I wouldn't recommend it.

i love III and especially II, but when they released the first song from IV i already expected it to blow.. bummer

I was so good at avoiding bad albums this year but this one really surprised me with its mediocre approach on music. It's so lazy, uninspired and in spots awfully written. I'm jammin' Never Enough sometimes, though, fun song.

such a shame. they used to be pretty damn good

people who like the self titled, II and III should check out that band called Helhorse. they are nothing special i guess, but still a fun band
