^ definitely. One prime example being his beat in the opening of The Moor, right where the drums kick in. That's like, his staple beat. He used it so much. The man's fills were unreal though.

really mediocre album, but what else is new with opeth...dear mikael, your growl is the best part about the band, your cleans always were weak and come off as very weak when they are not contrasted by the growls...stop trying to be cool and 70s proggy style, you just ain't that good at it...the kiosks in your temporal lobe ain't shaped like rosalyn carter

Opeth don't need repetitiveness to survive. They need true inspiration, and prog is a fountain of inspiration as Akerfeldt knows it.

I think it's more people see them as repetitive in how they've been writing their material. Always with the contrast of hard and soft which was fresh at first then seen as repetitive. Nothing pleases anyone anymore.
