lol i don't mean sympathy literally, i meant the difference between sympathy and empathy. sympathy is feeling bad for the person, knowing that w/e affected them negatively. empathy is literally being able to put yourself in their shoes, which usually means you've experienced it
so what i'm saying is this hits on that existential angst in the same way that elliott smith's music hits on rock-bottom depression: so precisely that i can actually imagine for a second how that person feels enough to accept me, even though i've never been depressed or whatever.
