Also: The Wheels side is a bit boring. Needs moar blast beats. Or something.

"Panopticon's next album is titled "Social Disservices" and is supposed to be his most "black metal" release, with only about two minutes total of "calm" sections throughout the entire record. "Kentucky" is going to be his mostly folk record, but I believe it's supposed to still have black metal to it. Like Collapse, only more folky. He's also working on Collapse pt. 2."
holy God, this man is on a roll.

Cool review man, I still need to hear this...
|

panopticon was better with the implication of post- influence, rather than embracing it fully
That's why his last album wasn't very good in my mind. I love the last split he did with these guys though.
Great review, looking more forward to the WWW tracks than Panopticons unfortunately. I wish Lundr would continue his folky bm stuff instead of this new path he's on.

Happened to me before, it'll be itunes not the downloaded files. Sometimes happens if you try to drag files to upload onto you ipod while it's in the middle of syncing
Nah this happened during just a normal sync, wasn't trying to drag anything on there. I'll just delete them later and re-import the songs and see what that does. Not in any rush since people are saying this is just ok.

I love this type of shit, will be getting immediately!

The Panopticon side was alright, but the Wheels Within Wheels side bored me to tears.
|

What can I say... I'm not easily bored ;]

He said it'd be entirely bluegrass.

Hopefully Panopticon's full length will be better than this. I'm definitely expecting it to be.

Yeah what can I say Hawks, this is the shoegazey album I was waiting for. I really liked both bands a lot actually. I'm excited for his next album though, he was saying on last.fm (along with the bunch of other sources) how heavy it's gonna be

Still pretty hopeful.

Well that's good news then. I definitely love his first two full lengths. As for this, Panopticon's side is like a 3, borderline 3.5, and Wheels Within Wheels is a 2 for me.

Panopticon's side was a 4 for me and WWW was somewhere inbetween a 3.5 - 4. I don't see my rating dropping for this either, I'm very satisfied with the work here.

This kind of thing is something I should really love, but I don't know, nothing really clicked for me after several listens.

He said it'd be entirely bluegrass.
He changed it? Or something. Via facebook:
PANOPTICON "Vinyl of both right off the bat. Limited cd release. Social disservices"= the
darkest, angriest black metal I have done yet...in the vein of Emperor,Leviathan and
Weakling...gritty,murky,dirty recording..."Kentucky" = traditional coal miner songs,bluegrass mixed
with epic and emotional melodic black metal like OTSOM. Bright, punchy recording. Both albums are about
50 minutes long each. Release dates announced soon!"
