Behemoth's bm stuff has been hit or miss for me so far. I dig this and From the Pagan Vastlands hard, but The Return of the Northern Moon sucks. Gotta jam Sventevith soon. m/

I think Grom is slightly better than Sventevith, but yeah early behemoth is real good 2nd wave stuff. I don't get the average for this one though, prob most people liking the later stuff who aren't familiar with bm tropes

Artwork doesn't get any better than this, shield and spear chilling on the bark of a tree from a black and white forest + double lightning bolt obliterating some kind of battlefield with classic Bathory font m/

Damn was jamming this morning and stands proudly among the best of second wave bm. The acoustic guitar, the synths/keys, the female vox on the last track and that bass! So many things that make it stand out and just plainly rule based on atmosphere and riffs alone. It's at least worth a strong 4.0 imo

Pretty solid album tbh. Think I'm gonna go through this bands discography again. They played a pretty important role in my extreme metal journey and that Apostasy/Demigod era made me wanna start doing extreme vocals big time
