I disagree with Parallels being better than Perfect Symmetry but I'm glad you're liking the band this thoroughly already. Check out The Spectre Within as it's better than some users are willing to give it credit for.

I agree that Perfect Symmetry is a fair bit better than Parallels. However, I think Spectre is easily one of their weaker albums (probably second worst after the debut).
Parallels, Perfect Symmetry, and I just got a hold of Theories of Flight pretty recently, and I really like them all.
All great albums. If you like Perfect Symmetry, you'll probably like this one too. I would highly recommend A Pleasant Shade of Grey and Disconnected as well. I'm not a huge fan of the albums with John Arch (the first three) but a lot of people seem to like Spectre and Awaken the Guardian a lot, so take what I say with a grain of salt I guess.
This band is just so awesome. One of the best discographies in metal.

As someone who adores albums like Inside Out and A Pleasant Shade of Gray and has Perfect Symmetry as his all-time favorite from this band, those albums are prog/power art.

I got both Parallels and Perfect Symmetry at the same time and for whatever reason, Parallels stood out to me more, but both are in the 4.5 range for me.
Ah, I didn't realize they had a different vocalist on the first 3. I almost thought they had a different guy on Theories when I first started listening to it. His voice has changed a lot since Parallels.

I like that they preserved a lot of the band's dynamics while still having a heavier sound on this. Zimmerman and DiBiase are fantastic here.
