I prefer the original version to the re-recorded honestly.

Maybe I’m in the minority but I vastly prefer the original version of this album. Yeah they’ve all improved on a technical level with their instruments/vocals, but the majority of the deviations from the original songs are a miss for me. The lower tunings hit hard and are cool at first but ultimately take away a bit from the melodic nature of the original recordings. The primary culprit here is the production though, this thing is so compressed it makes Death Magnetic look dynamic in comparison. Every single component of every single song the the exact same volume, it’s so awkward sounding, and this is coming from somebody that generally prefers more modern/compressed production. I really think that Messengers or especially Thrill Seeker would’ve benefited a lot more from this remake treatment, the original version of this album already sounded great so the decision is just puzzling. Hell even Constellations with its distant sounding guitars would’ve been a better candidate.

terribly written track

sounds like abr wants to do brocore but on their own terms, which results in band falling face flat when trying to jump over the almighty hurdle that is good songwriting

shit sounds so forced, probs gave their guitarists and drummer hemorrhoids

This album is pretty avg by ABR standards, but the fact that it was released after Constellations hurts it even more. Re-recording improved it, but not enough to make it memorable inside ABR discog.
