No they're quite different, they have mostly the same lyrics and choruses but they're still always a bit different and always better on the other version. This one is over produced yet still sounds so much messier. The clean singing is used more on the other one and is definitely the best part of anything they've ever done. Take Astral Rejection for example, on this version after the intro riff it goes into the lame little electro part whereas on the original it's a cool funky breakdown with louder singing with no autotune. The intro riff sounds way cooler on the original too.

Moo's vocal melodies were so good ugh

I might listen to the original, but I was never big on these guys to begin with

you might like it steak, it sounds like several DGD albums like Happiness imo. It's far better than anything else they've done.

That single they had a while ago was pretty cool too actually, "My Uzi Holds..." a something or other

My Uzi Hold A Thousand Round Conscience slays. Also the demo version of It Comes Naturally is amazing. Honestly this band is becoming one my favorites, sucks that the good version of this took 10 years to come out

I haven't liked these guys since 2009. But dang the OG Astral Rejection is pretty good
|
| |
apparently epitaph shelved the record bc ISMFOF recorded it really quickly after touring on slaughter, and were drained/wrote a really non-slaughter type record (i.e. no autotune)
epitaph told them to write a record more like BMTH (there is a hell) bc more popular at the time

Epitaph might actually beat out Victory Records as being the worst Indie label.

There's a good interview that they did last year in the UK (can't find it now) and Matt talks a bit about the recording process. Apparently Epitaph complained he sounded like 311 on a song. Seems like they were hell to deal with. I wonder how this band would have done if OG dropped when it did

Remastered album is so fucking good and it has no reason to.

Honestly this band might be in my top 10. I can actually appreciate parts of the 2011 version (It Comes Naturally, Life Hertz).
Hell, I dig the random Caterpillar Sex singles. Shit's way too experimental for a 2008 crabcore band. Fingers crossed they tour again so I can catch OG Narcissmfof live

Also part of the reason why it sounds different is that the OG one was written 99% by Nabil. I think just the lyrics were Matt. Which explains when the label scrapped it, he just said fuck it and got a real job

I gave this another shot, and it was a lot more interesting now that I've familiarized myself with the OG, seeing the parts of that album they kept around for this one and whatnot.

this took years to grow on me. still sounds like a mess and the OG is much better, but this still is okay. I have a nice picture vinyl of this
