Yeah, Sensual World is good for what it is but a huge step down after the two amazing albums that preceeded it. And then The Red Shoes ... she really lost a lot of ground over the course of two albums.
This, on the other hand, is amazing. One of her best albums imo, and the second disc on here is arguably my second favorite Kate Bush "disc" after Hounds of Love. (Some of the first disc holds it down though imo)

I could see that for the first disc, it's rather tame and I hardly ever listen to it ... But the suite on the second one has so many beautiful moments and so many amazing ideas that it's hard for me to understand why anyone wouldn't at least be moderately impressed by what she does there. I'm talking about things like the incorporation of birdsong into the music ("sounds like they are saying words" - so, music as a language), or the general concept of a song covering the fading of a summer day into the night and the compositions frequently getting more "bluish" as it goes on ... especially concerning the former, I just love what she does in the first minutes. Taking the sound of a laughing dove and transforming it into a capella singing, creating a piano lick under it and building a piece of music from there. There couldn't have been a better way to start off a suite like that.

I can’t stop listening to it at the min. The album is a true epic with everything being thrown at it. Creativity, soul, oddity, comedy, depth all combining to make a euphoric, weighty album of perfection.
I only gave it a proper spin out of interest due to the remaster and hearing that the dirty get Rolf had been cut. I’ve been captivated by the thing. The last three songs are unbelievable. It’s rocketed upto being one of my faves of all time.

She’s always been bollocks to me tbh. Wuthering Heights, Hounds of Love and Cloudbursting are absolute classics though.
I liked King of Mountain when it was released to the degree I appreciated it. Probably listend to this album in passing during the streaming generation but thought nothing of it and certainly a few ‘pack it in love, you’re fucking ridiculous’ moments cropped up but generally on the whole forgot about it.
Gave it a listen last week due to the remasters being advertised on tele and fuck me, this thing absolutely blew me away.
