It's not that Les Claypool is notably better than the other band members, it's that he puts bass in the spotlight and plays at a level higher than most bassists do. At least that's what I think.
The guitar on this album is flippin' awesome. The guitar dominates "Mr. Knowitall".
Not to mention the drums are horribly underrated. Tim's non-repetitiveness scares me sometimes. And am I wrong or does he do the doubles in the drum soloish thing at the end of "Too Many Puppies" w/ one foot? Or does he just have a closed high-hat somewhere on his kit that he never uses?

TBQH, I don't think you should have said "they only go downhill from here", it might detract people from getting their other albums. I mean, yeah, their other albums aren't as good as this one, but I haven't heard a Primus album I don't enjoy. Ah well, great review anyways, and amazing album. Pork Soda comes pretty close to this imo.

Primus rules...the rule even too much for to be honored with the usual "Primus sucks." Mmm....taste the thin and delicate slices cut off of a fresh Primus cheese block. They melt in your mouth.

Primus are bored of "Primus sucks" they don't use it anymore
How do I know this...I too am a fan
This is their best album along with Pork Soda and Sailing the Sea of Cheese
Best song on Frizzle fry is Too Many Puppies.

Just got this. One of my friends brought it to a party yesterday, and after hearing it i decided to get it. Great album. My favorites are " To Defy the Laws of Tradition," "John the Fisherman," the title track, and "Harold on the Rocks."

This is a very fun, quirky album. If you expect more from it, you'll be dissapointed. If you go into knowing this is just fun music, you'll love it. Because it's fun. It truly is fun.
I disagree with your review, though, mainly on the point that the first 6 songs are the albums best tracks. The Toys Go Winding Down and Harold of the Rocks are two of my favourite Primus songs, nevermind songs on Frizzle Fry. I think it's, for the most part, a very consistent album. nice review, sums up my feelings of getting into this band pretty damn well. Definitely found (and still find to some degree) Claypool's vocals less than special (though they are tolerable after a few listens) but the focus should really be on the musicianship of this trio. This is the first full Primus album I've been able to get into, but after that process I'll be looking for more.
