Not bad, but not great either, by any means. There's nothing here that hasn't been done before by
other
bands. And this does sound like a kind of a Dimmu Borgir clone meets Paradise Lost clone, sorry.
I actually find the symphonic parts in "The Great Mass" less organic than DB's stuff, so I don't get
anarchistfish's complaint. I believe DB record their symphonic parts live with an orchestra, and
they
do sound organic, not like keyboards/computers (in the last three albums, not the older stuff).
Having said that, there are some good tracks in this album, and it's worth listening to. I'm not too
fond of the growling, though.
