There was an IDM release last year with a green cover which I can't remember the name of that was solid but I can't really see it being revived

Maybe dormant or stagnant is a better term? It seemed like IDM was fairly massive in the mid 2000's to early 2010's?

there's a lot of interesting activity in other subgenres so I haven't minded? i love the 'ambient breaks' trend or whatever we decide to call the Ilian Tape sound. producers are super into breakbeats right now, I guess IDM rhythms are taking a backseat

Recent one (current dig) i found thanks to Avagantamos (autechre fan guy) is lynyn's Lexicon, his debut lp. It's very busy sounding but the balance of loud soft dynamics/melodies in general are great. It was done by a member of Monobody, which is a dope instrumental rock band.
