Review Summary: Nice! Your Brain Drilling skills are remarkable!

Have you ever felt like your life is going nowhere. Have you ever felt the need for that extra bit of spice in your life and accidentally swallowed a bottle of Tabasco sauce? Have you ever been aurally raped by the biggest cluster*** known to music? If so then you have probably listened to Brain Drill. Where do I begin? Try to picture the scene. You're in a car accident. You have been brutally concussed and now blood is building on the brain. What do you do? Do you suffer a brain hemorrhage and die or do you take that mother***ing power drill nearby and drive it straight into your head in a quick and decisive trepanation. Well either way we can assume both are the equivalent of listening to Brain Drill.

Now don't call me a cruel douche for assuming that Brain Drill suck. I for one used to worship the many goddamn riffs belted out by that monster of a guitarist known as Dylan Rusk....I forget his name but simply I loved Brain Drill. Many months after discovering this band I sat down and just listened to it again whilst taking in the negative points everyone said about this band. Put simply it's just a case of getting over the sheer technicality each member seemingly possesses.

The mixing on this album is relatively decent although it's kind of odd, the production seems abnormally loud but at the same time it is relatively decent. There is little specials about it apart from at times it can seem a little soulless such as the bass solo in 'Sadistic Abductive' which sounds hollow and manufactured....so.....nothing of major note with the production. Onto the music itself.

Let me start by saying that this band on paper seems to have everything. All instrumental departments are seemingly talented as ***. No joke here. They are definitely some of the most talented musicians around without a doubt. Oh but did I mention that songwriting skills are also a vital part of talent? Yeah, this is where this band falls flat on their ***ing faces. The riffs....the riffs....oh god.....they're everywhere, they're on the left, right and centre and oh god! They're coming out the goddamn walls!!! This is where Brain Drills biggest weakness lies. There is so much happening that the poor listener is aurally raped to the point that they have no choice but to submit to the rifftacular goodness that is Brain Drill. Yeah...that's basically the main problem....in fact there are so many riffs that this album can get extremely boring at times. Songs such as 'Depths Of Depravity' and 'Gorification' seem to drag on and on whilst buckling under the speed the songs head at.

However this album does have it's high points, songs like 'The Parasites' and 'Sadistic Abductive' provide a highly entertaining albeit mauling listen. The low end of the album is definitely impressive with the Bass being pretty audible for a Technical Death Metal band of this caliber. Solo's are also well executed in an explosion of wankery goodness. Perhaps another notable point is the fact that at what point the album sounds a bit....dare I say it....Atmospheric? This is evident in 'Sadistic Abductive where towards the end a synth comes into play providing an eerie atmospheric effect which is not something you'd normally expect from a band like Brain Drill

In conclusion, Brain Drill is probably something you should listen to the next time you happen to swallow a bottle of Tabasco sauce or you end up being in a life threatening car accident. You never know. The sheer technical agony might just take your mind off the possible life and death situation you may encounter.

The Parasites and Bury the Living are sick tracks, the rest are really boring.

Also this review is bad, it's just ranting. You've said nothing to convince the reader that the album is bad, all you've done is proved that you really dislike Brain Drill's music.

I always thought Viraemia was a better version of these guys.

I find viraemia boring compared to these guys cuz at least Brain Drill as a vicious sound to add some brutality to their mindless wank.

Viraemia is even more over the top when it comes to wankery.

Either way bands like these make my jaw drop in the amazement that they can't even write a simple song yet have amazing technical prowess.

Nah, a band like Psyopus would fit what you just described better than Viraemia. Viraemia is pretty brutal and has a lot of wank but unlike Brain Drill they have better song structures and don't just jump from one part to the next.

And I get what you mean, I tried to make it concise but I guess I made it a bit too concise.

The only reason I don't hate on Viraemia is because I have a man crush on their bassist. I've watched the guys cover video's on youtube for years; he's incredible.

@hellstormpirate Even when you are completely trashing a band you have to have a logical flow and valid points.

Ok, I've edited it to include notes on production, added more positives and I've validated the whole riffs thing a bit more.

My thoughts on Brain Drill: No point wanking if you can't produce anything at the climax. lul.
