This EP reminds me a lot of the stuff on Alaska but with some weird ass parts thrown in (and thrown in
more seamlessly than the last two). With Colors and The Great Misdirect they went too far in the
douchey self indulgent direction for me. While I'd prefer if all their songs were under 10 minutes
long, this is a surprising step in the right direction as far as my tastes are concerned.

Pretty good, but I didn't like it as much as I was hoping for.

I agree with absolutely everything you said in this review. You basically wrote down all of my thoughts about not only this EP, but their previous albums as well

First two songs are really boring so far...

Man, what an underwhelming EP. There were virtually no interesting parts.

*Lastly, some moments seem to blatantly thieve past albums; listen to the Swim to the Moon-esque section in “Specular Reflection” and the Ants of the Sky clone opening for “Augment of Rebirth.”*

You do realize that the album is a combination in both a *musical* and lyrical sense of Swim To The Moon and Ants of the Sky...so it would make SENSE that they included similar parts to bring about more of a sense of that...

Dunno, I enjoyed Constellations a lot more. It was just a lot more enjoyable and less random. This band works better as a straight up metal band than death metal/progressive/whatever imo.

Yeah dude I agree with what you are sayin. August burns red is definitely more straightforward. But the point of btbam's music is to be random, I think that is what they strive for haha

Yeah. I truly respect BtBaM for their twist on the genre and everything, I just think that they could pull it off better.

EDIT - What's with the first half of Augment of Rebirth being placed in the Cons? That was my favorite part of the album >.>

Augment is awesome. BTBAM just do whatever they want cause their fanbase doesn't care.

I think Colors was sorta supposed to be a bit 'random,' that being part of its charm and all (for me, anyway). But on The Great Misdirect and this, I think they're grounding all their non-metal influences in their music a bit finer, and actually working them into the music more, so it's not like METUHLZ. polka. METUHLZ, you know? It's more like...METuhlzpolkaMETUHLZ lol
