Brilliant pop album. Not quite as consistently brilliant as ITI or ROF, but the highs are just as great, and the lows are better then most bands'.

Like it a lot, but I'm going to listen again before my final opinion. Seems some songs start slow, but build very nicely.

Is it just me or are Julian's vocal "melodies" almost the same in every verse he has ever written? I agree with above, singles are pretty spot on, but the rest of the Strokes stuff starts to sound the same.

Great album, great band. Terribly underrated. Nobody had been able to capture that streets of New York indie/punk/new wave feeling for a long time before these guys came around. Thank goodness for groups like The Strokes, proving that there are still incredible bands playing rock and roll in the year 2011 and rock is in fact, not dead.

hahaaa. no definitely not underrated and by no means "terribly underrated". the strokes are huge.

I think this album is probably a 3 for me now, it's grown on me for sure.

To me they seem underrated, though I don't pay as much attention to the musical press as many on here do obviously. They've gotten their fair share of acclaim and respect, but they've never seemed to be given that whole mainstream rock "band of this decade" discussion that other groups like Coldplay have in the last few years and I feel like they should. Maybe underrated wasn't the best choice of words.

I recently tried to listen to Room on Fire for the first time in about 16 years and holy fuck did it age poorly

Damn dude I love that one. Might even be my favorite from them

This one on the other hand is kind of an inconsistent mess, but the highlights are good enough to make it a generous 3.5. Flawed but fun album

As a complete package this is clearly better than First Impressions, but I do think FI has a stronger handful of tracks. I'm just vibing with the overall aesthetic more on Angles, everything seems more vibrant and exciting (like the awesome album art). It's not without a few mediocre tracks though, definitely a few dull moments on here which marr the experience
