I always thought it was stupid because oftentimes the song titles don't have anything to do with the songs.

i mean The Only Difference Between martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage is a song about dancing and partying

i agree sometimes they are pretty witty though, not gonna lie

but this is my point

its a great song

so who cares about the title

you either shouldnt care about the title
or the title should just make you laugh when you see/talk about it

but the title shouldn't impact your view of the actual music

lol

right, i agree the song titles really shouldn't influence your feelings on the song (and to me they don't), it's just a pretty nitpick-ish topic :]

I more meant to just note the change from previous albums. But it's something that just bugs me sometimes. It changes how I hear the emphasis in the lyrics and music or whatever. For example, Shake It by Metro Station could go from a 12 down to an 11 on the annoying scale for me if it wasn't called Shake It.

"The Only Difference Between martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage" is about the Chuck Palahniuk book "Invisible Monsters," and the title is a reference to a line in the book. So yeah, it has a lot to do with it.

my mistake. the lyrics sounded like a party song to me

@thatoneguy:

It's fine to mention it in passing as an example that you extrapolate and infer from. You can say that the band has normalized and it's evident even in the song titles, for instance. But dedicating a whole paragraph to it seems not just excessive but irrelevant.

what Knott said.

like you make it seem like the song titles are really detrimental to this album's quality

Yeah, I suppose that makes sense. I might just go ahead and delete that paragraph when I get home.

No worries, I feel ya. To be honest, I have a feeling this "high on Panic" won't last forever with me.
