RE: Wyankeif,

"it's a good album but it's not even close to aoty for me. that album will, at this point, go to *shels, Deafheaven, Primordial, or Ash Borer."

I really enjoy that Deafheaven album myself. Haven't listened to any of the others, but I'm seeing Ash Borer tomorrow which I'm very excited about. Only heard great things about them, and figure what better way to be introduced to them than a live performance? Hopefully they have their LP and some cassettes with them.

No you should start off with Alcest and Wolves in the Throne Room then move on to Cold Body Radiation and Agalloch.

Does anyone else think it's absolutely ridiculous that people are claiming that this has post-rock influences? Because I'm not hearing them. The band can definitely write some awesome melodies but I don't see how people are misconstruing them as post-rock elements.

Just wait until you get to "Somehow..." It has the most EITS-y black metal climax I've ever heard.

I've never listened to EITS so I probably won't realize it, but if actually sounds post-rocky I guess I'll notice. Just learned that this guy is also behind Forest Mysticism which I have a huge boner for. Kind like them better though.

yeah I'm not sure where the post-rock comparisons are coming from. been listening to this a bunch lately, review is spot on, just unbelievably enjoyable music. :]

I agree with you guys. It's more of a folk influenced black metal than post-rock.

I wouldn't really say its folky either. Pretty straightforward stuff. I will say it's a shame there's not a bit more variety on this, the melodies are so strong but overall get lost in the lack of variation, this could just be one really long track honestly.

eh the one-dimensional-ness of this album doesn't bother me as much as you since it really isn't all that long :]

I don't see what the overall length of the album has to do with how each track is interchanable.
